Ensemble Hotel Partners celebrates the opening of the new Courtyard Philadelphia South at the Navy Yard, a 172-room Courtyard by Marriott property. The Courtyard Philadelphia South is the first hotel to be constructed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, and will exclusively serve the city’s newest and largest business campus.
Located just three miles from Philadelphia’s Center City, The Navy Yard is a thriving master-planned, mixed-use campus fueled by innovation and rich in industrial history. Having emerged as a highly sought-after business address, The Navy Yard is currently home to over 130 companies encompassing 6.5 million square feet of sustainable, dynamic office and manufacturing space.
“We are thrilled to open the first hotel at The Navy Yard,” said Kam Babaoff, Chief Executive Officer of Ensemble Hotel Partners. “It’s an honor to introduce this unique hotel, featuring a design that reflects the progressive campus in which it is located.”
Since being selected to develop the $34 million hotel by Liberty Property Trust in 2012 Ensemble has worked closely with Liberty, Marriott Corporation, the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation and the City of Philadelphia in the creation of the highly anticipated first hotel for The Navy Yard.
“It was very important to us that we create a hotel that reflected the historical significance and architectural sensibility of The Navy Yard,” said Conrad Garner, Vice President of Development for Ensemble Hotel Partners. “We believe that the thoughtful approach taken in creating the Courtyard Philadelphia South will provide its guests with an exceptional place to stay.”
The five-story, LEED-certified hotel was designed by the award-winning firm Erdy McHenry Architecture. The ground floor features an enhanced dining and lounge facility, fitness center and an expansive 2,000 square feet of meeting space with modern accents throughout. The building’s signature feature is a unique curved glass exterior and multi faceted composite metal panel façade that helps to set the hotel apart from the ordinary.
“This is not your typical Courtyard,” said Garner.
