Expansion for Courtyard Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard Unveiled

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A much-needed guest room expansion has just been completed for Ensemble’s first non-West Coast hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott, a stylish, award-winning hotel situated in the heart of the master-planned Navy Yard district of Philadelphia. The $8 million expansion added an additional 40 guest rooms, putting the hotel’s total key count at 212.
As new investments, both public and private, continue to be funneled into the Navy Yard area, business activity and tourism are expected to continue to grow at an accelerated rate over the next few years. These projections, combined with the Hotel’s existing strong performance, provided the basis for Ensemble’s 40-room expansion.
The hotel also attracts a significant leisure segment due in part to its immediate proximity to the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, home of Philadelphia’s professional sports teams, as well as proximity to downtown Philadelphia.
“We’re certainly well poised for the future with this all-important guest room expansion,” said Conrad Garner, Vice President of Developmental Services at Ensemble. “We’re in a great position to meet the market’s tourism demands as well as the corporate opportunities that are being created by the Navy Yard’s thriving commercial area.”
Opened in January 2014, the Courtyard Navy Yard is a five-story, LEED-certified hotel featuring 212 guestrooms and suites, a lounge, 2,000 square feet of meeting space, a business center, and an upgraded fitness facility. The hotel’s unique, modern design offers guests the latest Courtyard interior package.
