The February Face of Ensemble is our Bookkeeper (Long Beach), Beverly Hayden.

When did you join Ensemble and what do you do?

I joined Ensemble as the Bookkeeper for our Chairman Kam Babaoff, in September 2015. I have the pleasure of managing all of the daily accounting for multiple properties, business entities and development projects. I also prepare Financial Statements, Supporting Schedules, Loan Draws, Project Development Work-In-Progress Reports, Budgets and other Financial Reports.

What do you like most about working at Ensemble?

There are a lot of things that I like about working here at Ensemble, and there are two things that I like the most. First, I love being busy and working in Kam’s World means that I always have plenty of work to do. Second, our Management Team is truly the best because they respect who we are as employees and they appreciate the work that we do for our company. They also make sure that we have the right tools that enable us to work effectively in Ensemble’s productive and fast-paced environment.

Why or how did you get into your current line of work?

I started out as an Electrical Engineering Major and I made a Radio that picked up 3 local stations, but the radio signals were not that clear. While in college, I took a part time job as an Auditor’s Assistant and I wanted to learn more about accounting. I changed my major to accounting because it was interesting and I never picked up a clear radio signal.

Where did you grow up and what was your first job?

I’m from the Windy City (Chicago, IL) and I started working part time on the weekends when I was in high school.  My first job was a Part Time Retail Salesperson and I sold Men’s Rothschild Shoes at a department store.

What do you do for fun after work?

I have a real passion for helping others, and I volunteer my time each week in Deaf Communities throughout Los Angeles using American Sign Language.  Also, I’m currently studying French with a goal of learning French Sign Language, and I hope to volunteer in Deaf Communities throughout France during a vacation someday.

What is your favorite or most memorable vacation spot?

I’ll never forget Maui, Hawaii because it’s very beautiful, and I started dating my husband a month after this trip and we were married a year later.
